We have incredible news to share! Over the past 24 hours, it has been widely announced that Olympic silver medallist and passionate women’s rights campaigner, our co-Founder Sharron Davies MBE, is set to be elevated to the House of Lords as a Conservative peer in the new year.
This is a monumental step forward for our cause. Sharron has been an unwavering voice, often facing significant opposition, in advocating for the protection of the female sports category—insisting that competition should be fair and restricted to biological women to ensure integrity and safety.
What This Means for Us
Sharron’s new position in the UK’s upper chamber of Parliament gives us powerful, direct leverage at the heart of the legislative process. She will be equipped to:
- Elevate Our Voice: Bring the concerns of female athletes, women’s sports bodies, and parents directly to the floor of Parliament.
- Influence Policy: Scrutinise and influence legislation pertaining to sports, equality, and safeguarding, ensuring the rights and well-being of girls and women in sport are prioritised.
- Drive Change: Continue the tireless campaigning to secure a future where our girls can compete on a level playing field, safe and celebrated within their own category.
Sharron’s fight for biological sex as the foundational principle for women’s sports is now backed by a legislative platform. We are thrilled that she will be continuing her advocacy for women & girls’ rights and safeguards in sport from such a prominent and impactful position.
She said “I’m of course excited & humbled to be asked to go into the HoL in the new year, giving us even better leverage to fight for our girls rights & safeguards”.
Let us rally behind Sharron as she takes on this new role. This is a moment of great momentum, and we look forward to working with her to ensure that fairness and safety are enshrined for all women in sport.
